Dumplings Sizzling Prawns  Jun Ming Restaurant, Twickenham For a restaurant away from the main throws of Church and York Street in Twickenham (where a fair whack of the decent eateries reside) I am always intrigued when I see a good portion of folk dining at a restaurant off the beaten track. For this reason Jun Ming had been on my radar a while and when I finally got the chance to check it out, I did. Jun Ming Is a relaxed spacious restaurant with welcoming staff and when we walked in, no booking, the waitress offered us more than one seating arrangement which was quite nice. The restaurant itself is a mix of Chinese and Thai food. They offer a buffet style meal for around £20 and the usual a la carte. We decided to try Jamie's in Richmond as a last minute decision. Firstly we peered through the window and saw it was busy, glanced over the menu and figured we'd give it a shot.  To be honest we weren't expecting much different from your usual Zizzi or Pizza Express. We were wrong. It was buzzing, people were enjoying themselves and the food being served was a hefty notch or two above the norm.  From what I could see was being served, the food looked great. We had to wait for a table because we hadn't booked. But that was fine, we perched at the bar and ordered drinks, including one of Jamie's very own bespoke beers . IT STARTS as soon as you pull up outside Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, the service, that is. Staff are with you every step, at your beck and call, although there's no need to beck or call - they're always one step ahead. It may be disconcerting for some folk but if you've not experienced 3* service before, relax, enjoy it, don't fall into the trap of thinking this type of place is only frequented by fancy folk who think they're the above it all. It's a place where people are celebrating and enjoying themselves. GR has a cosy, simple and relaxed ambience, not an opulent over the top dining room as you'd expect for a 3 Michelin restaurant.
